the song i've obsessed over this week

is this song. how good is this? if anyone ever finds a copy of the whole rekkid out there, snag it for me, alright? i'll be spending a lot time searching the stores for it as soon as i get my damn car back from the mechanic's shop. seriously, try not to take your car in for an estimate on a friday. you can kiss your weekend plans goodbye. well, you know, if you live in a part of town with one walkable/bearable bar and terrible bus service. ...anyway, here's smoked sugar with 'keeping up my front.'

wait, that's a white guy? - girl watcher

i'm also going to put up some of my favorite videos. and this one rules.

it's the first installment of a running series i may or may not stick to entitled, "wait, that's a white guy?" all videos are of songs i always thought were sung by black guys, but i finally got around to watching the video and said to myself, 'wait a second. that's a white guy. huh.' anyway, here's the o'kaysions with 'girl watcher.'

#1 - 1/6/10 - "payed the rent late this month."

here's the first list. i should have said before, but i won't skip a track just because i find it embarrassing to admit that i have, oh, say, everything amy winehouse has ever recorded on here, or something like that. so if anything else, check these lists so you can have a laugh at my expense. songs are listed like this # - artist - title - album (when i know what it's from). also, feel free to post your own shitty shuffle mixes on here. they'll only make me look better.

"payed the rent late this month."

1. - John Zorn and Masada - Piram - Live in Hamburg, 1994.
2. - Liquid Soul - World's on a Leash - self-titled.
3. - Mason Jennings - The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll - I'm Not There.
4. - Albert King - Blues Power - The Complete Stax-Volt Singles, Vol. 2
5. - The Beatles - I'll Follow The Sun - Beatles for Sale.
6. - Miles Davis - Will O' The Whisp - Sketches of Spain.
7. - Sex Mob - Please, Please, Please - Solid Sender.
8. - The Delfonics - I'm Sorry - not sure. i've got it on some greatest hits thing. and i'm too lazy to go find out.
9. - Eric Mercury - What's Usual Seems Natur'l - Stax-Volt Singles, Vol. 3.
10. - The Police - Roxanne - Outlandos d'Amour.
11. - Xiu Xiu - I Broke Up - Knife Play.
12. - The Beatles - I'm A Loser - Beatles for Sale. apparently the old itunes is real fond of this album today.
13. - Bob Dylan - Temporary Like Achilles - Blonde on Blonde.
14. - Beachwood Sparks - Let It Run - Once We Were Trees.
15. - Michael Jackson - Thriller - Thriller.

that's a helluva way to close this up. more to come soon.

welcome.

alright, so welcome. here's the deal. once a week or so, i'm going to plug my itunes in and press the shuffle button. then i'm going to write down the next fifteen songs that it plays. why would i do this? because there's a pantload of songs on my computer that i've either ripped, stolen, or woken up hungover to find that drunk me downloaded eight new albums for sober me to listen to. often when i'm curious about just what's made it on here, i'll hit shuffle and run through the tracks, hoping that there's something great i haven't heard. sometimes i find gems i've never heard before and play the song on repeat all day. sometimes i find out that letting other people use my computer is a huge mistake - i still haven't found out who downloaded every rob zombie album made onto this thing, but when i do the swift kicks to the ass are gonna start flying. generally, though, it comes up with a halfway decent mixtape that i would make and play in my car. if i had a tape recorder.

eventually, i'll get some sort of file account so you can download these playlists. for now, you're on your own. go youtube them or something. hell, i dunno.
